As a reminder, October 23, the Venice Commission approved the draft amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine concerning justice, elaborated by the working group on justice of the Constitutional Commission of Ukraine. The Venice Commission stated that the restart of the judiciary in Ukraine was possible, but as an exception and after amending the Constitution.

As the “Ukrayinski Novyny” (“Ukrainian News”) Ukrainian media outlet reported, Venice Commission Secretary Thomas Merkert noted that the Commission was concerned about corruption in the Ukrainian courts but welcomed abandoning the initiative to dismiss all the judges.
