Klimkin asks ICRC to monitor conditions in Crimean prisons more carefully

Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin has called on the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to monitor conditions in the Crimean prisons more carefully.

He said this at the meeting with ICRC President Peter Maurer, the press service of the Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry reports.

Klimkin also urged the ICRC to monitor the conditions of detention of prisoners in the areas in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, which are not controlled by the government of Ukraine, as well as in Russia. Particularly, the request refers to Nadiya Savchenko, Oleg Sentsov, Oleksandr Kolchenko and prisoners who have grave health condition such as Yuri Kostenko and Oleksandr Soloshenko.

The press service’s statement says that the parties agreed to seek opportunities for greater access to the detainees.
