Yanukovych appeals against decision to put him on Interpol wanted list
Viktor Yanukovych appeals against the decision to put him on wanted list. That’s why the Interpol has removed the relevant data from its website.
According to the Ukrayinska Pravda (Ukrainian Truth) Ukraine’s media outlet, the Interpol removed the data file of Viktor Yanukovych from the section of wanted persons.
This happened after the application of the lawyers of the Joseph Hage Aaronson litigation law firm seeking removal of Yanukovych from wanted list, as the firm itself argues. They claim that Interpol took into account their statements on the “politically motivated” prosecution of Yanukovych in Ukraine and decided that information about Yanukovych “requires further study.”
According to the Ukrainian bureau of Interpol, the access to the information concerning the search for Ukrainian ex-president has been temporarily suspended due to the fact that Yanukovych appealed against the decision to put him on wanted list in the court of Lyon, “The access was suspended following the appeal against putting on international wanted list, lodged by Yanukovych and his lawyers. The case is planned to be examined on its merits at the next session of the Commission for the Control of Interpol’s Files in September this year.”
As a reminder, Viktor Yanukovych, ex-Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and several Ukrainian ex-officials were put on Interpol’s wanted list on January 12.
