Russia killed four people and injured 16 in another large-scale Russian missile attack on Ukraine on the night of 26-27 August and the morning of 27 August.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram that despite the effective work of Ukrainian air defense, Russia managed to kill four people and injure 16 others.

“A search and rescue operation is underway at the sites of strikes and falling debris in the oblasts of Ukraine that came under Russian attack last night. All services are involved, and the rubble is being cleared… My condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed in the attacks,” he wrote.

Zelenskyy reported that the Russians used more than 90 aerial weapons against civilians and infrastructure in this combined attack: 81 Shahed drones, as well as cruise, ballistic and aerial missiles.

According to the Commander of Ukraine’s Air Force Mykola Oleshchuk, Ukrainian Air Force downed five cruise missiles and 60 UAVs.

Three people were killed, five were injured and one more is still missing after a Russian attack on a hotel in Kryvyi Rih, in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

According to Serhii Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Military Administration, a 43-year-old woman was taken to a hospital in a critical condition. A 37-year-old man was also taken to hospital. He is in a moderate condition. Three more people will recover at home. Additionally, Lysak noted that Russians damaged six shops, four high-rise buildings and eight cars.

He also reported that Russians attacked the City of Marhanets in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast with a Grad multiple-launch rocket system, killing a 65-year-old man.

Russian troops attacked Zaporizhzhia with seven Shahed UAVs. They killed two people and injured four others. Two houses are destroyed and more than 30 more are damaged.

The Kharkiv Oblast Prosecutor’s Office announced that on 27 August, Russian troops launched an attack on the town of Bohodukhiv, Izyum district, in the Kharkiv Oblast, resulting in the death of a 71-year-old man and injuring six others. Among the injured were a 15-year-old boy and his pregnant sister.

Earlier, on August 23 the State Emergency Service of Kharkiv Oblast reported that in Bohuslavka, the rescuers retrieved the bodies of two people from the rubble of a house destroyed by a Russian strike.

The rescuers identified the victims as a man born in 1963 and a woman born in 1965. They also reported that a 78-year-old woman suffered injuries in Bohuslavka following a Russian airstrike on the night of August 23.

Previously, Zelenskyy went on to call on Western allies to send Ukraine long-range weapons and to allow them to hit areas in Russia from which attacks are launched.

Ukraine must not have restrictions on the range when terrorists have none. Defenders of life must have no restrictions on using weapons," said Ukrainian president.

Ukraine’s foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba outlined on X two specific decisions that partners can make to help Ukraine put an end to Russian terror sooner. First, affirming Ukraine’s long-range strikes on all legitimate military targets on Russian territory. Second, agreeing to use partners’ air defense capabilities to shoot down missiles and drones close to their airspace.

“None of these decisions are escalatory. To the contrary, they will deter Russia, help to reduce terror and the number of Russian attacks, as well as the resulting casualties. Act now, not later. Help us save lives,” the minister commented.

Zelensky said on a news conference to mark Ukraine’s Independence Day that he is going to present a plan to the US on how he intends to end the war with Russia. He will present the plan to presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, as well as current President Joe Biden.

The plan will include steps on the diplomatic and economic fronts, he said – separate from Ukraine’s incursion in Kursk, which has also been part of a strategy to get Moscow to start peace talks.
