Five residents of Donetsk Oblast were killed by Russians on May 26
Russian Armed Forces killed at least five civilians and injured three others in their attacks on Donetsk Oblast on May 26, 2024, according to Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk Oblast Military Administration.
“Russia is killing civilians! Russians killed five residents of Donetsk Oblast on 26 May: two in Antonivka, and one in [each of the settlements of] Siversk, Krasnohorivka and Chasiv Yar. Another three people were injured in the oblast over the day,” he wrote on Telegram.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russians have killed at least 1,978 and injured at least 4,925 civilians in Donetsk Oblast. Filashkin emphasised these figures do not include the casualties caused by the Russians in Mariupol and Volnovakha.
Since the beginning of the year (2024), Russian troops have dropped nearly 10,000 guided aerial bombs on Ukrainian territory, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed to world leaders who are still not on board with the Global Peace Summit to join the collective effort. He called on them to show leadership in advancing real peace, not just a pause between strikes.
Zelenskyy expressed confidence that the efforts of the global majority are the best guarantee that all commitments will be fulfilled.
Earlier, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksandr Lytvynenko, stated Ukraine realises the war will end with negotiations. Therefore, it is preparing and promoting President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s peace formula.
