Russian rocket systems kill 2 in Donetsk Oblast
The Russian military attacked the settlements of Ivanopillia and Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk Oblast with multiple-launch rocket systems on June 27, 2025, killing two civilians and injuring one woman, according to Anastasiia Medvedeva, spokesperson for the Donetsk Oblast Prosecutor’s Office, in a comment to Ukrainska Pravda.
“Russian forces attacked the village of Ivanopillia in the Kostiantynivka hromada—a local government area that includes one or more nearby settlements—at 10:55 a.m. Friday. They targeted a residential area. A 66-year-old man sustained fatal injuries as a result of the attack. In addition, his 64-year-old wife sustained a blast injury, multiple shrapnel wounds, and concussions. The attack damaged three houses,” Medvedeva said.
She also added that the Russian armed forces struck Kostiantynivka at 11:30 a.m., killing a 57-year-old man in his own home and damaging 11 houses.
According to the prosecutor’s office, Russians used Smerch multiple-launch rocket systems to carry out the attacks.
At around 2 a.m. on the night of June 25-26, the Donetsk Oblast Prosecutor’s Office announced that a Russian kamikaze drone Geran-2 struck a five-story residential building in the town of Bilozerske, Donetsk Oblast. Five people were injured in the attack, including a 15-year-old boy.
The impact caused a fire to break out.
The victims suffered blast injuries, concussion, closed fractures, shrapnel wounds and abrasions. All of them received medical assistance.
The attack also damaged three high-rise buildings and seven cars in the city.
Russian troops killed three civilians and injured 11 in the settlements of Pokrovsk, Zoloti Prudy and Novoiavlenka in Donetsk Oblast on June 24, according to Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Oblast Military Administration and Ukraine’s State Emergency Service.
One person died and two more sustained injuries in Pokrovsk.
A Russian attack on Novoiavlenka killed one person and injured another.
In Kostiantynivka, three people were injured and 32 residential buildings and cars were damaged in the strikes.
Russians used six drones to attack Kramatorsk. A fire broke out at a non-operating production facility, which firefighters extinguished.
The settlements of Raiske, Lyman, Novyi Donbas, and Rodynske also came under fire.
Officials noted that the number of civilian casualties in the Donetsk Oblast does not include the city of Mariupol and the town of Volnovakha.
Investigators launched a pretrial investigation under Article 438.2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
ZMINA continues to report on the ongoing international crimes in the Donetsk Oblast.
Such attacks have been ongoing. Ukrinform, citing Guterres’ annual report, presented by Virginia Gamba, special representative of the secretary-general of the United Nations for Children and Armed Conflict, at a UN Security Council meeting in New York, UN Secretary-General António Guterres has once again included the Russian armed forces in the so-called “list of shame” for widespread and systematic violations of children’s rights during Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.
The report records a significant increase in grave violations of children’s rights in conflict zones in 2024. In Ukraine, the number of such violations increased by 105% compared to the previous period. The largest increases were registered in Lebanon (545%), Mozambique (525%), Haiti (490%), and Ethiopia (235%).
“I am deeply concerned about the sharp increase in grave violations against children in Ukraine, particularly the killing and maiming of children, and attacks on schools and hospitals,” Guterres stated in the section dedicated to Ukraine.
The United Nations verified the killing (94) and maiming (577) of 671 childrenі attributed to Russian armed forces and affiliated armed groups.
The UN also attributed 862 attacks on schools and hospitals to Russian armed forces and affiliated groups (696), unidentified perpetrators (110), and Ukrainian armed forces (56). These included 559 attacks on schools and 303 on hospitals.
The report draws particular attention to the deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia. It notes that many of them have still not been found or returned to their families.
“I strongly urge the Russian Federation to cooperate with the United Nations for the return of Ukrainian children and reunification of such children with their families and/or guardians,” Guterres said.
Previously, Bohdan Bernatskyy, a member of the Sanctions Policy Working Group of the Crimean Platform Expert Network, revealed at the Third Parliamentary Summit in Latvia that over 1,300 Russian military companies and 2 million industrial workers continue to operate in Russian military equipment production, many without international restrictions.
Ukraine urges the international community to unite to restore global security under the UN Charter and strengthen sanctions against Russia to enforce compliance with international law. Following Russia’s initial invasion in 2014, Ukraine has pursued the liberation of its territories within its internationally recognised 1991 borders while developing comprehensive reintegration strategies and policies for all liberated areas.
