54 Russians asked for asylum in 2016, 957 were deported

During 9 months of 2016, 54 citizens of Russian Federation asked for asylum or additional protection in Ukraine, State Migration Office wrote in a response to the “Access to Truth” user.

According to the response, 86 Russians asked for asylum in 2015 and 130 in 2014.

Besides this, last month in a similar response the State Migration Service specified that four Russians received asylum and 10 were granted additional protection in 2016.

Meantime, 957 Russian citizens were deported from Ukraine.

In 2015, 7 received asylum and 4 additional protection, whereas 1 312 Russians were deported.

In September 2016, the Security Service of Ukraine deported from Ukraine the Russian citizen Aminat Babayeva. She was asking for asylum in Ukraine.

This autumn, Russian refugee Sergiy Anisiforov received the third in last two years refusal to grant asylum from the State Migration Service, even though his right to asylum was confirmed by Ukrainian courts.
