Militants are holding in captivity Ukrainian soldiers in the correctional colony in Makiivka in Donetsk region.

As reported by Ukrainian News agency, this was stated by Iryna Herashchenko, the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada and representative of Ukraine and the representative of Ukraine in the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group.

“Ukrainian soldiers, simple mobilized guys, are held in the correctional colony of Makiivka”, – she said.

Herashchenko called such conditions of detention of prisoners of war unacceptable.

According to her, 109 citizens of Ukraine are illegally held in the captivity of militants and Russia. 485 citizens of Ukraine are considered to be missing in the zone of the antiterrorist operation.

According to the Security Service of Ukraine, at least 3,084 people were freed from the captivity of illegal armed groups of Donetsk and Lugansk since the beginning of armed conflict on the east of Ukraine.

Earlier Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union appealed to rehabilitate captives immediately after release and reintegrate them into civilian life.
