Over 80% of Ukrainians not want have right to bear arms
About 81.5% of Ukrainians oppose legalization of free sale of arms to population.
According to depo.ua Ukrainian news outlet, this is evidenced by results of the poll, conducted by the Democratic Initiatives Foundation and the Razumkov Ukrainian Center for Economic and Political Studies.
11.5% of respondents supported legalization, 7% were undecided.
In addition, when asked about their attitude to possible activity of non-state armed organizations in Ukraine, 78.3% of respondents gave negative answer, 11.3% of respondents gave positive answer and 10.4% of respondents were undecided.
The poll was conducted among 2,011 respondents over 18 years of age in all regions of the country, except for the annexed Crimea and the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, occupied by terrorists, on July 22-27.
As a reminder, the experts have recently discussed whether Ukrainians are responsible enough for use of weapons, whether the crime rate will decrease after legalizing arms, and whether arms legalization will step up the country’s defensive capacity.
