At least 15 civilians killed and 130 others injured in Russian strike on shopping centre in Kryvyi Rih

Russian forces killed 15 people and wounded 130 others, including 22 children, in a double-tap drone strike on a shopping centre in Kryvyi Rih on 21 August, 2026, regional officials and the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Prosecutor’s Office stated.

 

The attack involved two successive strikes by jet-powered Shahed drones on the city’s largest shopping centre, according to Oleksandr Vilkul, рead of the Kryvyi Rih Defence Council. A fire broke out inside the building following the strikes, and a search-and-rescue operation was launched.

“There’s been a repeat attack on the shopping centre by a jet-powered Shahed drone. They are flying at extremely low altitudes. Further strikes are possible,” Vilkul said.

The death toll rose throughout the day. The Office of the Prosecutor General confirmed the double-tap strike, noting the attack occurred at around 16:30. It also reported that 27 people were in a serious condition at one point during rescue operations, including three children.
