The exchange of captives between the Ukrainian security forces and the militants of Donbas did not take place as announced yesterday.

This was confirmed by both sides on their resources.

Iryna Herashchenko, President’s Commissioner for peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbas noted that the refusal of the illegal armed groups to comply with the agreements on the exchange was “torture for the families of the captives.”

She added that “such statements made on the Christmas Eve, which they were not going to comply with and which were told to make fun of the real people once again, are not even farce and hypocrisy but the great sin.”

In turn, Igor Plotnytsky, the so-called “leader of the LRP” accused Ukrainian government of disrupting the agreements.

All the attempts to contact the authorized representatives of Ukraine to transfer the prisoners of war to them resulted in nothing,” he said.

Yesterday, Herashchenko expressed the hope that at least nine people, including some with serious injuries, would be released from captivity of the illegal armed formations.
