Lutkovska arrived to Crimea to meet with political prisoners and convicted
Valeria Lutkovska, Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, arrived to Crimea intending to meet with the political prisoners who are detained in Crimea and with those who requested transfer to the mainland.
As reported by Bogdan Kryklyvenko, Head of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, on his Facebook page.
“After 3 months and especially grave last 2 days of negotiations we managed to get the opportunity to meet with political prisoners held in Crimea and with those prisoners who requested transfer to the mainland. We asked for a meeting with 42 people, but were allowed to meet with only 3 and in particular with Ahtem Chiygoz” – wrote Kryklyvenko.
According to him, Lutkovska and Tatiana Moskalkova, Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia, are currently visiting detention centre in Simferopol.
“It should be stressed out that this is an official visit of the Commissioner to its citizens, even if territory is temporarily occupied”, – said Kryklyvenko.
Lawyer Mykola Polozov said that occupation authorities prevent a meeting between Ukrainian Ombudswoman Valeria Lutkovska and Ahtem Chiygoz, Deputy Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People.
He informed about this on his Twitter page, following the results of 60th court hearing in the Chiygoz case.
According to Polozov, court hearing was suddenly adjourned “with the purpose of excluding the communication of Lutkovska and Chiygoz in detention centre as well as possibility of her visiting the court hearings”.
As a reminder, in early December during the visit of Russian Ombudswoman Tetiana Moskalkova in Ukraine in order to meet with detained Russian military in Mykolaiv a visit of Ukrainian Ombudswoman to Crimea to meet with political prisoners was discussed.
