On July 27, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine approved ratings of 320 candidates for positions of judges in the Supreme Court. 120 people won the competition, among them are judges, lawyers, scientists and specialists with a combined experience.
As reported by the press service of the HQCJ.
In general, the HQCJ conducted interviews with 381 candidates in collegiums. A rating was drawn up as a result of the competition, which lasted from November 7, 2016.
As noted by the commission, the participants of the competition passed professional and psychological tests, passed the checks of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, the Public Integrity Council.
Now the High Qualification Commission of Judges will send recommendations to the Supreme Council of Justice on the appointment of 120 candidates as judges of the administrative, economic, criminal and civil cassation courts in the Supreme Court, 30 judges in each court.
At the same time, Mykhailo Zhernakov, representative of the Reanimation Package of Reforms, wrote that “30 out of 120, exactly 25% of the winners of the competition to the Supreme Court are disreputable”.
“Before the announcement of the new rating today there were 76 dishonest candidates out of 319 that is 23.82%. The result would have been better if the winners were chosen randomly and not by the HQCJ”, – he noted in Facebook.
Halina Chyzhyk, representative of the Public Integrity Council, also wrote that “Alla Lesko, who aided Judge of Maidan Viktor Kitsyuk to remain in office, received at least 352 points out of 500 possible for virtue and ethics and Judge-exposer Serhiy Bondarenko, who went against the system, is on the 90th place”.
“Judge Viacheslav Nastavnyi, who made a political decision on the case of (Yuriy) Lutsenko, is on the 2nd place in the rating and human rights defender Oleh Levytskyi is not even in the passing part of the rating”, – she resents.
“Judge of the Supreme Economic Court of Ukraine Larysa Rohach who helped the oligarchs receive hectares of protected land in Kyiv will not continue to do so in the Supreme Court”, – Chyzhyk said.
“And administrative board of the HQCJ have beaten the anti-record by recommending 30 candidates, 9 of which are not virtuous according to the Public Integrity Council”, – she added.
