How Russian authorities have been struggling with freedom of speech in Crimea

Crimean Human Rights Field Mission together with the Human Rights Information Centre have created infographic that explains how freedom of speech and expression has been folded with the start of Russia’s annexation of the Crimean peninsula.

Stripping television space, the use of “Crimean self-defense” to put pressure on the media, use of Russian legislation on extremism in Crimea, denial in registration or re-registration of the Crimean media, searches, seizure of property, criminal penalties for the “call for separatism” – all this has become an indispensable tool to fight against the freedom of speech in the Crimea.
