Today, a day of mourning has been announced in Ukraine due to the tragic death of miners in an accident at Zasyadko coal mine in Donetsk.
This is stated on the official website of the President of Ukraine.
The memory of the victims was honored with a minute of silence. Also, national flags are lowered on buildings and the facilities of state authorities, local governments, state enterprises, institutions, and organizations. Provisions have been made to cancel entertainment, concert, and sporting events and appropriate changes are made in the program of television and radio programs.
A methane explosion occurred at the Zasyadko mine on the morning of March 4th. Because of this, about 200 miners were trapped but only 157 of them were rescued. Sixteen mine workers were injured. After the explosion, the separatists did not allow Ukrainian rescuers on the scene of accident. The bodies of dead miners are being searched for by other miners and local emergency services.
The news portal Korrespondent published the photos of search works at the mine.
Today, as of 2 p.m., 24 bodies were raised to the surface while eight remain inside. On the whole, the bodies of 32 miners were found and the fate of one remains unknown.
