The European Commission has finally approved the sixth report on the implementation of the requirements of the Action Plan on Visa Liberalization by Ukraine.

This is reported by the Ukrayinska Pravda (Ukrainian Truth) online newspaper with reference to the fragments of the document, which is currently being prepared for publication.

The report was approved at the European Commission board meeting on December 18.

“Taking into account the results of monitoring and reporting, which has been conducted since the start of visa dialogue in October 2008, the Commission considers that Ukraine has fulfilled all the criteria identified in the four blocks of the second phase of the Action Plan on Visa Liberalization,” read the conclusions of the European Commission’s “visa-free report.”

The document says that Ukraine was granted visa-free regime due to special political relations between Kyiv and Brussels.

Taking into account the relations between Ukraine and the EU, the European Commission will submit the legislative proposal for amending the regulation 539/2001 [to the Council of the European Union] at the beginning of 2016,” the European Commission notes.

The mentioned EU regulation provides for the list of countries, whose citizens do not need a visa to enter all the European Union countries, except for the UK and Ireland.
