ISIS recruits 50 Crimean residents – SBU

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has found that 50 Crimean residents have been recruited into the ranks of the Islamic State terrorist organization.

In addition, 68 foreigners came to IS in transit through Ukraine, Gordon media outlet reports.

It has been found as of today that 50 people from among the residents of Crimea (Ukrainian citizens and foreigners residing in the territory) are involved in the fighting in Syria and Iraq as part of ISIS, al-Nusra Front and the related structures. In addition, it was established that 63 foreign supporters of ISIS were transported through the territory of our state to Turkey,” reads the statement of the security officials.

According to the SBU, some organizations operate in Ukraine to recruit people and provide transit to Syria and Iraq.
