The United Nations will send a mission to examine the possibility to start demining operations in Donbas.

This was announced by Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations Volodymyr Yelchenko, Interfax news agency reports.

According to him, the experts will arrive on January 23 and will work for two weeks.

Yelchenko stressed that the deployment of a comprehensive UN peacekeeping mission in Ukraine was not discussed now.

This mission will arrive, look, calculate, draw its conclusions. Then a small coordination headquarters will be set up in Ukraine to start these activities,” the diplomat noted.

As he said, the UN Secretariat is ready to allocate substantial funds for this mission.
