Over 1,000 mobilized Ukrainian servicemen have been killed not in the battles in Donbas conflict zone.

This was announced by Chief Military Prosecutor of Ukraine Anatoly Matios in an interview with iamir.info online media outlet.

According to him, the main reasons for these losses are alcohol abuse, careless handling of weapons and conflicts between the military, which often end in shooting.

Matios believes that a lot of unmotivated people come to the war zone. According to him, it is reasoned by corruption in the medical commissions.

Who work in the military medical commissions? The President? No, a doctor of a district dispensary, who says that a healthy man is ill (for a hundred or two hundred hryvnias) and an ill person, who has no money to pay him, is sent to war… So, he comes there and starts to drink. There was a case when a drunken soldier threw a grenade at a small stove. Thirteen people were killed!” Matios said.

Another problem in the ATO area, he said, is crimes among the servicemen.

54 people from the Aidar battalion are prosecuted for crimes. Robberies… We had to stop Tornado [unit] by force. Nine fighters of Tornado stand trial, another 15 are wanted,” Matios said.

Earlier, MP Serhiy Pashynsky informed that nonbattle losses had exceeded battle losses over the past three months.
