Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko is under pressure in Moscow jail – human rights activist

Russian security service exerted pressure on Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko in Moscow prison. He was kept in isolation without a right to communicate with relatives. During communication with a human rights activist, he could not inform the nature of accusations against him, and even his name.

The human rights activist Zoya Svetova informs on her Facebook page.

“I am a foreigner. The investigator did not let me call home, he promised that they will inform the consul. My family does not know that I am here”, – conveys Sushchenko’s  words the human rights activist.

He was detained under Article 276. “Again a Ukrainian spy” – adds Svetova.

She also noted that the prison officer intervened in the conversation, demanding that Sushchenko does not have to say his name and the article for which he was detained.

The journalist said that during the arrest he was not tortured, but “exerted psychological pressure.” Pressure continues, – says the human rights activist. – There is an empty cell in the quarantine, no TV, no books, no newspapers. If you find yourself in prison on Saturday, you disappear for two days: no information, complete isolation. Such situation is only in Lefortovo, in other Moscow prisons there are books in quarantine. In “Lefortovo”, there are no books in quarantine.”

“Let him sit – nothing to worry about”, – reacted to the Svetova’s remark one of the prison’s officer.

However, the Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights of Ukraine Valeria Lutkovska wrote a letter to the Ombudsman of the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova with a request to take control over the case. Lutkovska is trying to contact her by phone, Commissioner’s spokesmen Mykhailo Chaplyga said in a comment to the “Ukrinform”.

Lawyer Mark Feygin tries to get an access to Sushchenko. In a comment for the “Ukrinform”, he told that he is in a queue to visit him in “Lefortovo”.
