Two Crimean residents convicted for posts in social networks

Russian-controlled court in the occupied Crimea has sentenced two residents of Simferopol city to several years in prison for extremist posts in social networks.

The press service of the Russian-controlled prosecutor’s office in Crimea reported this on November 14.

In particular, according to the press service, 19-year-old Crimean resident was sentenced to three years and ten months in prison.

The Simferopol’s district court convicted 19-year-old local resident for posting on his page in VKontakte social network the audio and video materials with the signs of hostility towards members of the Caucasian peoples. In addition, he inflicted an injury of medium gravity to a passer-by during the conflict provoked by him,” the press service explained.

In addition, another Simferopol’s district court sentenced 18-year-old female local resident.

She has posted on her page in VKontakte social network the text files with the information directed at inciting hatred towards members of the Caucasian peoples. She was sentenced to two years in prison. The sentence is suspended,” the press service informed.
