Dying mother of Chiygoz must visit him in the SIZO herself – the decision of the Crimean authorities

The occupation authorities of Crimea, to prevent Akhtem Chiygoz from leaving the SIZO (pre-trial detention centre), made offer to his terminally ill mother, who is confined to bed, to come to visit her son by herself.

In a video message, the lawyer called such a decision by the Crimean occupation authorities as blasphemy, since Chiygoz’s mother is confined to bed and transporting can kill her.

“Today Lyudmila Lubina, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Crimea, on the instructions of the Russian Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova, called me and said that the meeting could be granted upon condition that the ill mother of Akhtem Chiygoz was brought to Simferopol by ambulance. And today the relatives reported that the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation came to the residence of Akhtem Chyigoz’s mother with the same proposal, which is just as unprincipled, as blasphemous and inhuman”, – Polozov said.

In this regard, Polozov said that the defense will try to achieve the right for Chiygoz to say goodbye to his mother.

“We continue our efforts to make Chyigoz fulfill his sacred right to say goodbye to his mother, I call on Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova, Mikhail Fedotov, Head of the Human Rights Council, to immediately intervene in this situation. It is impossible to use other words than mockery to describe this situation”, – the lawyer noted.

He also called on the UN, the OSCE and the President of Ukraine to immediately intervene and ensure the right for Chiygoz to meet his mother.

Earlier, Polozov wrote letters to the Russian Ombudsman and the Chairman of the Human Rights Council under the Russian President due to the fact that the court forbids the deputy chairman of the Mejlis, political prisoner Akhtem Chiygoz, to see his severely ill mother.

As a reminder, Russian judges denied Akhtem Chiygoz the right to say goodbye to his terminally ill mother.

Earlier, the “Supreme Court of Crimea” extended the arrest of Akhtem Chiygoz for additional three months, until July 8.

Ahtem Chiygoz was detained in January 2015 for participating in a rally in support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine in front of the Crimean parliament on February 26, 2014.

Then protesters opposed the pro-Russian activists, including those from the Russian Unity, and clashes took place.
